1/ Salut et merci pour avoir pris le temps pour ce superbe set . Peux tu te présenter pour ceux qui ne te connaissent pas?
1/ Mon nom est Orlando Marshall aka Buscrates , je suis originaire de Pittsburgh en Pennsylvanie ( je réside actiellement à Atlanta en Géorgie). J’ai un projet solo ainsi qu’un trio se nommant ELQ ( East Liberty Quarters) . J’ai démarré principalement dans le Hip-hop mais avec le temps je me suis ouvert à pas maal d’autres choses, spécialement funk !
2/ Peux tu nous parler de ce set , full 45 tours , quelles sont tes influences?
2/ Ce set contient autant mes pepites favorites que des trouvailles récentes. Je suis allé diggé quelques jours pour préparer ce set . C’est toujours important d’aller chercher et découvrir de nouveaux trucs.
3/ Personnellement je t’ai découvert avec les trio East Liberty Quarters. Tu as d’autres projets en groupe?
3/ Merci , content que tu apprécies. On a sorti notre premier EP en 2011 sur le label Rotating Souls Records. La même année, en Octobre nous avons pu nous produire live pour la première fois, en première partie de Dam Funk. Le groupe est composé de Geerman , Nice Rec et moi même.Nous avons un véritable amour pour tout ce qui est funky, et nous étions proches avant de former ELQ .Pour le moment nous avons 2 EP , un 7 » ( Holiday/Streetlights) ainsi qu’un morceau sur la compilation du label Omega Supreme Records : Raw Silk Vol 1 (2006)
4/ Qui sont pour toi les artistes à suivre .
4/ Brian Ellis sort un paquet de choses ces temps ci. Allez écouter son EP « Reflections ». Mon pote Walla P de Montréal et son radioshow Voyage Funktastique qui envoie des bons morceaux. (Il a sorti une compilation l’an passé sur laquelle j’ai produit une track avec Nice Rec de mon groupe ELQ) . Jettez également une oreille sur un groupe : Synthesiz, que je forme avec Brett Eclectic depuis 2014.
5/ Des sorties à venir?
5/La prochaine sortie pour moi sera un remix que j’ai fait pour Kutcorners feat K-Maxx. Le morceau s’appelle « Need2know » et sera dispo en 7″ très bientôt. Big up à mon gars Big Jacks. Mon projets Synthesiz sera prêt courant de l’année également.
6/ Des dates?
6/ Rien de précis là dessus, cependant il m’arrive de me produire ou de mixer par ci par là. Si vous me suivez sur Facebook vous serez informé de mes futures dates.

1/ Hi and thank you to take time for our show ! Can you introduce yourself for those who don’t know you ?
1. My name is Orlando Marshall aka Buscrates, and I hail from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (now residing in Atlanta, Georgia). I’m a solo artist, as well as 1/3 of ELQ (East Liberty Quarters). I started out as a primarily Hip-Hop based artist, but over the years I got more into other things..mostly the funk!
2/ Can you talk a lil bit about you set ? What are your influences?
2.This set included a lot of long time favorites, as well as a few recent finds. I had gone record shopping a few days or a week prior to recording this mix, so that’s always influential to go out and get some new tunes or some things I discovered along the way.
3/ I love the East liberty quarters project. How many project do you have? can you talk about them ?
3. Thanks man, glad you dig it! We released our first EP in 2011 on Rotating Souls Records (what’s up Curt!). That same year in October we did our first show ever, opening for Dam Funk. East Liberty Quarters is Geeman, Nice Rec, and me. We have a genuine love for all things funky..and we were already homies way before ELQ started sometime in 2008-2009. So far, we have two EPs (The East Liberty Quarters EP and The 206), a 7″ (Holiday/Streetlights), and a track on Omega Supreme Records compilation Raw Silk Vol. 1 (The 206).
4/ Who are the artists to follow for you?
4. Brian Ellis, he’s been putting in a ton of work lately. Check out his ‘Reflections’ EP.My homie Walla P who runs Voyage Funktastique, he’s going to put out some quality stuff (he released a compilation last year which features a track I did with Nice Rec from ELQ), and also be on the lookout for Synthesiz, a duo I formed with Brett Eclectic back in 2014..
5/ any releases?
5. Next release for me is going to be a remix I did for Kutcorners featuring K-Maxx. The track is called ‘Need2Know’, and will be available on a 7″ soon! Shouts to my man Big Jacks for that! Most likely the Synthesiz project will be done this year as well.
6/ Tour?
6. Nothing solidified for a tour yet, although I will have the random DJ and/or performance gig here and there. If you follow/like my Facebook page, I’ll have everything updated there. I update it pretty regularly.
